Should I take out Cancellation Protection when booking?

Cancellation Protection is available for just £2.10 per day. If you purchase Cancellation Protection at time of booking and you are unable to honour your booking prior to the collection date, Avis Jersey will refund all charges except the cancellation protection portion.

Without Cancellation Protection, the following refunds will apply:

  • 28 days before start date of hire 50% refund
  • 7-28 days before start date of hire 25% refund
  • 0-7 days before start date of hire No refund
  • No refunds will be given for rentals ended early, late collections, no shows or cancellations made after the rental start date even if Cancellation Protection has been purchased.

What’s the maximum period of rental?

There is no minimum or maximum rental period. Rental periods of less than 24 hours are charged at the applicable 1 day rate.

If you wish to extend the rental period after collection of the car, or if you return the car late, you will be charged the relevant rate

What are the age restrictions?

The minimum age to hire a car is 20 years of age for groups A,C,D,O & P. For Groups M & N minimum age is 23 years. All drivers must have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months.

The maximum age for all cars is 80 years old.

Are fuel charges included?

Fuel charges are not included in our rates. All vehicles are supplied with 13 litres of fuel. This can be pre-paid via our website or at the desk. Alternatively, hirers may refuel the vehicle upon return for no extra charge. Refuelling charge may apply if not returned to the same level.

Will I get my choice of vehicle?

Whilst we note your preference of vehicle type which we will endeavour to supply we cannot guarantee a particular make or model of car. You may be given an alternative similar or upgrade car at no extra cost.

Will I need to bring my driving licence?

To hire a car in Jersey it is imperative that you remember to bring your original driving licence. If you have any serious endorsements on your licence this may affect your right to hire and therefore we suggest that you advise us in advance.

Can I take the vehicle off the island?

It is not possible to take any of our rental vehicles off the island, they can only be used in Jersey. This is for insurance reasons.

What if I need a car dropped off at a hotel?

Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver vehicles to hotels or private addresses.
